"Be smart, have a plan, then work as hard as you can."

I've had to work numerous jobs during my 4 years in Seattle in order to afford my tuition, housing, and help provide aid to my family. The variety of jobs that I've maintained, from Resident Advisor to Hostess, have each contributed to my financial stability and have affirmed my interest in humans and their related behavior. The individuals with whom I have been given the opportunity to interact with through my various jobs have each helped keep me grounded as a human being and have pushed me away from the intellectual bubble that can occur within the academic community. I will fully admit that there were times in which I viewed working 2-4 jobs on top of school in a very negative manner. It was stressful and awful at times but I am able to graduate debt free because of these opportunities. If I had not worked these jobs not only would I be in a financial sinkhole, but I would have also missed out on meeting some of the most astounding and inspiring individuals that have left a lasting impact on both my academic pursuits and my character as a human being.
